About

I’m a creative technologist, performance artist, educator, and technical consultant working at the intersection of art, technology, and immersive environments.

For over 30 years, I’ve explored the space between computing and creative practice — starting with animation and video, then moving into immersive environments and audio visual performance.

Over the past 20 years, I’ve focused on developing immersive installations and sensor-based systems across galleries, festivals, public spaces, and unconventional settings — from water towers to zoos. I have also VJ’d at festivals across New Zealand and performed in alternative music groups (Axis of Weavils, Soccer Practice)

My work draws from maker culture and open-source approaches, blending tools like Arduino, IoT, projection mapping, augmented reality and AI.  I sketch and experiment between pen and ink, code and pixels.

Since 2014, I have been lead Creative Technologist at AwhiWorld, a transdisciplinary lab based in South Auckland and then Te Tai Tokelau. I’ve contributed to labs, workshops, installations and experiences that build capacity in communities and engage a range of disruptive and emerging technologies.

In addition, I consult on immersive builds, prototype interactive tools, and support artists and producers in delivering technically complex creative projects. This has involved supporting from design right through to installation and audience delivery stage.

I love sharing knowledge and have taught tertiary students at Whitecliffe, AUT and NorthTec, as well as delivered workshops on a range of creative technologies.

Whether it’s building something unusual, supporting others in trying something new, or figuring out how to make a system work reliably, I enjoy working with people to solve problems and make things happen.
