Models and Modelling

I am interested in different kinds of physical crafting techniques including modelling with different materials like clay and cardboard. The creatures that choose to emerge from those materials are often then used in my VJ performances or form the prototypes for larger installations. Sometimes they just exist to be themselves and find their place in the world.

Creative Coding

Creative coding is something I have been doing since I was very small. It emerged out of hacking existing programmes and then evolved into experimenting with mathematical equations and original algorithms. I then merged these with my drawing practice playing with the move from analogue to digital.

Sound

I have an evolving sound experimentation practice. I am interested in how visual objects can, through processing through computer algorithms, evolve into sounds. Also how contact microphones, hydrophones and other unusual sound collection devices can reveal sounds not normally heard in every day life. One of my interests is ‘playing’ my drawing practice live using contact microphones as part of performances. So that drawing and sound may merge.

Video Circuit Bending

Hacking, breaking down and rearticulating objects is a core part of my practice. In this part of my practice I have been hacking into old video cameras and finding ways to extract sounds and video content directly from the circuitry.

Print Making

I have been experimenting for a number of years with different print-making styles and experiences including Woodcuts, Screenprinting, Lithograph . I have been experimenting with the movement between analogue and digital. This includes using CNC machines to experimentally etch.
