I am interested in different kinds of physical crafting techniques including modelling with different materials like clay and cardboard. The creatures that choose to emerge from those materials are often then used in my VJ performances or form the prototypes for larger installations. Sometimes they just exist to be themselves and find their place in the world.

Augmenting Elders is an ongoing AwhiWorld collaboration with seniors and staff at Elmwood, a retirement village in Manurewa, South Auckland. It involves a number of events and projects which bring traditional craft together with emerging technology. Project 1: I used the mixed reality ‘Love Creatures’ app and ‘Wandering Creatures’ apps to help the elders learn about this technology. Awhi_Flora was an AwhiWorld mixed reality mobile app available from the Google Play Store. Awhi Flora is based on New Zealand native flora and includes 3D animated flowers and physical seed markers. Awhi_Flora is a tool to support community engagement, to open minds and weave together different realities. It was tested and developed as part of the Augmenting_Elders programme I co-facilitated and then immediately put to use in the community
