Sound

I have an evolving sound experimentation practice. I am interested in how visual objects can, through processing through computer algorithms, evolve into sounds. Also how contact microphones, hydrophones and other unusual sound collection devices can reveal sounds not normally heard in every day life. One of my interests is ‘playing’ my drawing practice live using contact microphones as part of performances. So that drawing and sound may merge.

Video Circuit Bending

Hacking, breaking down and rearticulating objects is a core part of my practice. In this part of my practice I have been hacking into old video cameras and finding ways to extract sounds and video content directly from the circuitry.

Soccer Practise – Visual Performances

I am a core member of the experimental electronica band, Soccer Practise. My role is the visual musician working the band to create sound and visual performances. We have performed at a number of venues including Te Papa Museum where I curated their collection and combined it with my own images for the first ever live performance of a band on site.
